Finding the light!

Shooting weddings involves not only capturing all those memorable moments, but also doing it in a purposeful way ... seeing the shot happening, visualizing the photo in the mind, and knowing how to get that image with the equipment in your hands. Existing light photography is often viewed as the best there can be outside of shooting in a studio with professional lights.

The ability to capture dramatic images in all types of situations and light depends on being able to first find the light, determine how best to use it, have the right equipment to shoot with, know how to use the camera and finally, the ability to edit the photos to perfection before sending them off to the lab to be printed.

Keith and Paul upgrade their gear regularly in order to get the best photos possible. They have both come a long way since Canon introduced their first digital cameras about 8 years ago. This has paid off for them handsomely, allowing them to capture shots with existing light that less equipped photographers struggle with. For those interested, click here to see the current gear they use.

In essence, they find the light!

Keith GardComing from a background in the graphic arts and the internet, Keith has been involved in photography for over thirty years, and with digital photography for the last eight years. His foundation in digital editing has helped him become one of the outstanding photographers of the area. Not so long ago, it was the responsibility of the print lab to create the great photos from the film sent in by the professionals. Now, the responsibility rests with the photographer.

Keith has been photographing drama productions for years, including shooting the Kansas City Ballet's production of "The Nutcracker" for the past 5 years. He is also involved in documentary and artistic photography. This gives him an edge when shooting weddings - telling the story of that special day. He is constantly studying ways to upgrade his craftsmanship.

A tear waiting to spill over

That perfect moment captured for all
